"Thank you love," Loki smiled relieved.
It felt wonderful to have Adam wipe away the mess from her chest then help her into her gown while the nurse saw to their newborn. It hadn’t fully sunk in yet that everything had gone well and that they were finally the family that they had both dreamed of the entire year.
"Please do," she replied cheerfully. "They are probably climbing the walls. Literally."
"Climbing, slithering, and leaping." He chuckled, "They are quite talented at that." He hummed puling his phone out and hitting the dial button for their home phone. He was actually grateful for the StarkPhone Tony had given him.
She was exhausted as was their daughter as this particular birthday party took quite a lot out of them. The ladies in Adam’s life. Loki murmured thoughtfully. “Is that Greek? It sounds pretty.” As she peered down at the babe nestled against her chest the name seemed to suit her. “Oh, I remember darling. It may amuse, Hela one day.”
The nurse interrupted a moment for she needed to take the baby to get her cleaned up properly then dressed warmly and swaddled in a blanket. Loki was reluctant to let their daughter go but was comforted by the fact she would be returned soon. She handed her daughter over to the nurse then mouthed a kiss against her husbands neck. “Martius can you help me clean up a bit and bring me my gown?”
"It shall be…. interesting." he chuckled kissing her.
Adam got up quickly, “Yes of course.” He grabbed washrags and gathered some water at a perfect temp before returning and helping Loki clean up.
Once he finished he helped her change.
"I shall call the boys and everyone else." He kissed her gingerly upon the lips.
"These emotions will be the death of me," Loki grumbled with no real heat to it. She scooted to the side once the doctor had taken care of her and patted the space wanting Adam to come back up onto the bed to hold them. "Do you think so?" She peered down at the little scrunched up face and felt her heart melt. "I am not so convinced. I see quite a bit of my husband in her."
The baby breathed gently and seemed to settle as her parents touched her gently. “Oh dear the boys…” What were the going to tell them? They hadn’t updated anyone having been caught up in the delivery. “They are going to be less than thrilled with us Martius but perhaps knowing they have a little sister will ward off most of their upset.” She rested her head against his shoulder. “I thought a name would come to me in the moment but not quite yet. Have you made a list?”
"They will understand Loki." He hummed settling with his arms around both Loki and their daughter.
"I have been thinking… I though perhaps… Hela?" He hoped she would like the name.
"She still looks like you even if like me. Remember?"
While Loki relaxed after the birthing taking a few moments to gather herself she eagerly sought her husbands comfort and praise. Even though she worried their little one may appear Jotun all she truly cared for was that the babe was healthy, and whole. Their child was finally here!
She was bursting into tears b the time Adam had slipped out from behind her to cut the cord. He was doing very well which brought a smile to her face. The doctor took the scissors over then asked Adam to step aside a moment as he lifted the baby up and carried her over to mom.
Loki knew what was coming and quickly parted her shirt so the doctor could place the baby upon her bare chest. “You both have a very beautiful daughter on your hands.” He said but it was all lost upon Loki who was caressing the baby’s cheek with a lone finger. The nurse brought up a small towel that the parents could use to gently rub at the baby’s skin.
"Martius?" She called for him and reached out to draw him over to them wanting him to be a part of this. "Look at her full head of hair," She giggled soggily as she brought his hand down to take up the towel so they could touch and clean her together. "Hello sweetie," Loki spoke softly as the baby protested halfheartedly. Peering up at her husband she felt a bit overwhelmed by love. "Thank you my darling for everything. And you were right. We’ve a little girl!"
Adam watched in awe as his daughter was cleaned and handed to his wife. He was smiling more then he had in decades.
He came over quickly, joining Loki as she took their daughter into her arms.
He hummed beaming, “Thank you Loki. You have brought so much joy into my life.” He kissed her head softly.
"She looks like you Loki." He softly caressed the babies cheek.
"What shall we name her so we can tell the boys?"
The labor was going really well it seemed. The baby’s vitals were strong. Mom was doing well and Dad was perfect. The nurse had everything ready to go for the little one and was standing beside the doctor who was gently guiding the baby. Half of the struggle was getting the baby’s head free and they had already managed that.
Loki drew Adam’s hand in tight against her chest as she focused on breathing and waiting for the right moment to push again. It only took a few more pushes for the doctor to have hold of the baby’s shoulders and turned the little one till the tiny body slipped free.
Quickly they began clearing out the baby’s mouth and clamped the cord. Knowing full well that Adam was partially a vampire the doctor looked to him and lifted the tiny scissors into view. Did he have enough control to want to cut the cord or no? Loki trusted him but she would not want to put him in a position where he was uncomfortable.
Adam held her tight as he tried to do his best to help her. Breathing with her and stroking her hair with comforting words.
Adam smiled, “The babe is here. You did wonderfully Loki.” He kissed her head, continuing to stroke her hair.
He looked up to the doctor, with a smile and a nod, taking the scissors. Over joyed and focusing on this task, Adam cut the cord with a excitement.
A frown marred her brow before she playfully pinched his thigh. “You had me then you ruined it.” No one wanted to think about diapering but it had been funny.
"I am well enough though obviously struggling with impatience. One moment the wait drives you mad then the next fear of what is to come. I know that it is normal for all mothers but living it is something else entirely."
Their relaxation lasted only so long before the contractions began to come closer together and far more painful. While Loki managed well enough it was taxing and she borrowed her husbands strength when she could. The doctor arrived cheerful which only seemed to infuriate Loki and mercifully she was distracted with the news that the baby was more than ready to make their grand entrance into the world.
Of course she panicked and grasped firmly to her husbands hand but listened to him above all others as she worked to birth the child.
Adam held her speaking soothingly as he tried his best to help her.
"That’s it Loki, you are doing wonderful my love. Almost there, grand entrance."
The nurse was very friendly but not overly so. She had been around since the couple had paid visits to the center and was one of the few that were on call for Loki and Adam. She left them be after showing them a small device that she had brought with her that would let the couple keep track of how their baby was doing. A series of small pictures that depicted heart rate, mom’s heart rate (after putting a small sensor upon the inside of Loki’s wrist) and a view of the baby. She left the device with them and slipped back out shutting the door to give them their privacy back.
Loki held the device in her hand watching the marks travel across the space provided while drawing her fingers across the image of their unborn child. After a deep breath she offered it to Adam. “Its lovely but I would rather have our baby in my arms. I grow tired of seeing but not being able to hold them.”
Adam kissed her cheek. “Soon darling. Soon we shall have this little one in our arms. Smiling, cooing and pooping.” He chuckled, nuzzling her.
"How are you feeling?"
Loki all but purred contentedly as she rested back against her husbands strong chest. “Very much so,” she sighed as the nose from the television program seemed far off in the distance. “That is a form of magic in and of itself.” Laughter trickled out of her.
"An alternative to Midgardian medication," she snickered. When the next contraction struck it was not nearly as forceful which she was thankful for and threaded her fingers through his as a knock sounded upon the door. The nurse came in explaining that they were going to set up a few things and soon enough the doctor would appear.
"Well, I am glad for you I can do this. I felt it would be safe enough. I just hope it can last until after our little one is hear."
He looked up at the sound of the knock, carefully and quickly hiding the bite on Loki’s neck before taking her hand again before the nurse entered. Adam smiled, nodding to the nurse, “Thank you Miss.”
It had been so long since the last time he had joined with her like this and Loki’s relief was almost palpable. She had missed this connection and though he was not truly feeding from her it was as if a balance was restored and she gave herself over to her husband easily. It didn’t take long at all for her to become more pliant in his embrace and the effect of his bite began to take effect though she was already in a much better emotional state than before it took effect.
Loki reached back to sift her fingers through his hair while focusing on her breathing. Suddenly the frequent pain that plagued her and her discomfort seemed to loose their edge. Wanting him to feel similarly she found his hand and brought it back to her belly knowing full well it would create a feedback loop but that is exactly what she wanted.
Adam was not in his usual high state when drinking and was able to focus on everything around him. His main being Loki’s. He was relieved to feel and smell a shift as she eased and was able to relax more.
He slowly stopped drinking as he kissed her, “Better?”
Adam kissed her neck, barely at first. Letting his lips graze over her skin till he found a good spot. He slowly applied pressure to his kiss until finally sinking his fangs in. He was gentle as he did so, only sucking lightly. The goal was for to feel better and not himself."I meant a nip… not enough to feed me but to possibly help you with the pain. I know what it does for you… I would not offer it other wise if I didn’t." He pulled the hair from her neck gently. His fingers skimming her skin barely as he did so.
"Just give me the word."
